Switched off?

Switching off can create a bubble in all kinds of ways, sometimes not at all or only half realising what is happening in the outside world. Maybe prepared to take it in, but not to act out.

The headlines keep coming at you - 50 killed in Orlando, two in Magnanville, the murder of Labour mp Jo Cox, the Brexit-referendum. And continued - 30 killed in Afghanistan, 20 killed in Somalia, 45 killed at Istanbul airport, 30 killed in Kabul, 28 killed in a restaurant in Bangladesh, almost 300 killed in Bagdad, seven victims of terror in Saudi Arabia, five police officers killed in Dallas, 30 killed in Iraq.. still only fragments of what is going on in the world, yet enough to despair, to feel helpless, and voiceless.

Once you experience violence it changes you, nothing will ever be the same again. Upon that realisation I once promised to always be the voice for those who struggle to find their own. Help them find theirs, speak on their behalf whenever needed.

After a few weeks of taking in, processing, struggling to find answers to questions and more questions, it's about time to join the conversation again on how (!!!) we can create a world free from violence, where everyone can grow up to their full potential and be seen for who they are.

Time to follow up on what the world is doing to tick off our common to do list. Time to join the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) in 2016 (Follow up and Review of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs).
